Commonly called star clusters, Pentas species bear hairy, ovate or lanceolate leaves and rounded or flat clusters of tubular to bell-shaped flowers, each with five lobes, or petals. They thrive in full sun and rich, well-drained soil. In the North, people grow them as bedding plants and replace each season. This flower attracts hummingbirds.
