Our Services

Garden State Growers is a large-scale greenhouse operation that delivers and merchandises a wide variety of our fresh plants directly to stores. We currently supply retailers in the New York-Tri state area. We are always looking to expand our services so feel free to contact us!

Our dedicated greenhouse team pays close attention to each plant throughout the growing process to ensure they receive the correct amount of sunlight and water for the best quality plant.

To ensure the plants stay in the incredible shape we deliver them in, our merchandisers from our subsidiary Simply Set LLC care for them in the store so the plants stay fresh until the very last moment.

We are always on the lookout for new ways to combine our plants with other items to make innovative and unique products. So, contact us if you want to work with us or have any suggestions!

Our Process

Below is our typical growing process, which details the process from when we start by purchasing the seedlings and cuttings all the way until they are planted in the customer’s garden.

1: Planning: Where It All Begins

In the office of Garden State Growers, the planning stage is a process of careful precision and foresight. Gardeners start by sketching a detailed blueprint, much like an artist preparing a canvas. They consider the needs of various plants, from the sunlight-loving salvia to the shade-preferring ferns, ensuring each will have its ideal spot.

2: Propagation: The Beginning of Life

In the controlled environment of a nursery, seeds and cuttings are carefully sown into trays filled with a nutrient-rich growing medium. This initial stage is crucial for germination, where warmth, moisture, and light are meticulously managed to encourage sprouting. The typical grow time until these small plants are ready to be transplanted averages from 4-8 weeks.

3: Transplanting: The First Journey

Once seedlings have developed their first true leaves, they are gently transplanted into individual pots. This marks their readiness for a more independent phase of growth. The young plants are still sheltered in the nursery, where conditions are optimized for their vigorous growth and development.

4: Moving to the Greenhouse: A New Home

The young plants are then transferred to the greenhouse, a sanctuary designed to provide the perfect balance of light, temperature, and humidity. Here, they are arranged with ample space to flourish, under the watchful eyes of growers who monitor their progress and health daily.

5: Nurturing: The Growth Phase

Inside the greenhouse, plants are meticulously cared for. Watering, feeding, and pruning become routine, ensuring each plant reaches its full potential. Automated systems often assist in maintaining the ideal environment, but the personal touch of skilled horticulturists is irreplaceable in spotting and addressing any issues.

6: Selection and Packaging: Ready for a New Adventure

Mature, healthy plants are carefully selected for distribution. They're cleaned, pruned, and inspected for pests or diseases to ensure only the best make it to the next stage. Then, they're securely packaged to withstand the journey ahead, ensuring they arrive at their destinations in pristine condition.

7: Distribution: The Journey to Retail

Packaged plants are loaded onto trucks for distribution, ensuring they are securely placed to prevent damage. They're delivered to garden centers, retail stores, and big box stores, where they are carefully unloaded and displayed for customers. Once displayed, the plants are arranged attractively by Simply Set merchandisers to entice customers, showcasing their vibrant colors and lush foliage optimally.

8: In the Customer's Home: The Final Destination

Finally, the plant finds its new home with a customer who selected it with care. In its new environment, it continues to grow, bringing joy, beauty, and a bit of nature's serenity into living spaces. The cycle of growth that began in a nursery has come full circle, culminating in the connection between plants and people.
